Anxiety is a universal human emotion that can keep us safe and warn us about all types of danger. We can never truly eliminate it but we can learn to manage it. For those who struggle with anxiety, very often it is a result of trauma, loss, chronic stress, overwhelm, conflicted relationships, or just plain genetics. The alarm center of the brain, the amygdala, from the Greek work "almond" because of its shape, can become overactive in those who have experienced a trauma, loss, stress event, or who might be genetically predisposed to anxiety. In this case, the amygdala  frequently and unnecessarily signals danger, which can lead to an anxiety disorder.
Managing anxiety is a cumulative process that gets better and easier over time. I use a holistic approach when treating anxiety, addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of my clients. In other words, I treat the whole person.
Through a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Breathwork, Psychoeducation, and Neuroscience, I work with individuals on a personalized treatment plan to empower the individual so they become their own "anxiety expert."
